Bioi have only had one job in my life, and i still do it and still LOVE it... through my work, i travel the world teaching others, which is rad! i am a hairdresser in vancouver and run my own salon. i know i am a natural anarchist who resists the notion of being told what to do, so it is best that i am self-employed ;)
besides my "career," i also entertain myself with organizing ladyfest vancouver for the second year now, and have just started on with the queeruption Q10 planning committee. they both rock and i get so much out of it! i also volunteer in the DTES of vancouver, cutting hair at 2 places. i write things like music and poetry, and make things like photographs and books. i have played in several bands over the years, and have hosted a radio show here in vancouver for almost 10 years (until i opened my own business).
i am definitely a lover not a fighter and always find myself wondering why people can't be honest with one another, and why they have to exert so much energy being negative when they could be using that energy to better themselves and the world we live in.
one of my favourite quotes is by songwriter/activist phil ochs who said "in such ugly times, the only true protest is beauty." i see beauty all around me, in nature, on the streets, in people, in their actions and their creations, and in my creations. i am definitely a geek by nature and have recently fallen in love with the idea that clapping is really like hi-fiving yourself - i love hi-fives AND clapping!!!!
